Born in Paris, Karen Swami discovered pottery at the age of five and attended ceramics classes throughout her childhood. After studying at business school, she worked in real estate before moving into film production.
In 2010, she took part in a ceramics workshop led by Thierry Fouquet, who encouraged her to obtain her CAP, which she completed as an independent candidate that same year. She then installed a kiln and a wheel in her production office and began creating ceramics alongside her work in the film industry. Renowned Parisian interior designer Christian Liaigre discovered her work and initiated a collaboration that continues to this day with Liaigre.
In 2014, Karen Swami established her studio at 6 rue Victor Schoelcher in Paris and devoted herself entirely to her passion for ceramics. Her creations quickly attracted leading names in design and fashion, including Alberto Pinto, Bruno Moinard, Dior Maison, Guerlain, Cartier, and L’Oréal.
Karen Swami has since exhibited extensively in Paris (Galerie Minsky, Galerie NAG, Atrata Paris, Galerie Nichido), as well as in Brussels, London (Richeldis Fine Art), San Francisco, and New York. She has also participated in major international fairs such as Design Miami in Miami, PAD London and Paris, and Fine Arts in September 2026.
In 2025, she opened a new address at 32 rue Monsieur le Prince in Paris, just steps from the Luxembourg Gardens, where she continues to develop her artistic practice and collaborations
